As you arrive by light aircraft and transfer across shimmering channels, the transition from airborne view to quiet elegance is seamless. Vumbura Plains is sculpted to sit lightly on the landscape—elevated decks under shady trees, interiors of canvas and glass that invite the outside in. 

The accommodation offers generous indoor / outdoor living: the bed positioned to frame the vista, an indoor-outdoor shower, lounge area, and on the deck a private plunge pool and sala for relaxing or private dining. 

Game drives across the mosaic of habitats—flooded grasslands, mopane woodland, waterways—unfold morning and afternoon, with guides tracking everything from elephants wading through channels to packs of wild dogs on the hunt. 

Water-based excursions add richness: glide in a mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) along reed-lined channels, or cruise in a boat past hippos and crocodiles, all while absorbing the serenity of this remarkable inland delta. 

At sundown the deck transforms: drinks by the fire-pit, stargazing over the flood-plain, the subtle cadence of night-time wildlife in the air. Comfort, elegance and adventure merge.

Vumbura Plains Camp is designed to celebrate the spirit of the Delta with open, contemporary architecture that invites the landscape in. 

Two separate but equally luxurious camps—North and South—each feature an open-sided lounge, dining area, and bar shaded beneath ancient trees. A central fire-pit deck offers a convivial space for evening gatherings under the stars. Elevated wooden walkways connect the main areas with private suites, while the camp’s raised decks ensure uninterrupted views across flood-plains teeming with wildlife. Guests can also enjoy an on-site curio boutique, in-room spa treatments (on request), and WiFi in both main areas and suites.

The camp comprises fourteen elevated suites—seven in each camp—crafted from timber, canvas, and glass to immerse guests in the surrounding wilderness. Each suite features a spacious bedroom with a king or twin configuration, an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, and an expansive private deck complete with plunge pool and shaded sala for lounging or private dining. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors flood the interiors with natural light and uninterrupted Delta views. Family units, available in the North Camp, consist of two inter-leading bedrooms sharing a deck and pool—ideal for small groups or families. In-suite amenities include a mini-bar, tea and coffee station, ceiling fan, and optional in-room massage service.

Vumbura Plains offers a rare dual experience of both land and water safaris throughout the year. Morning and afternoon game drives explore the private Kwedi Concession, revealing a diverse range of habitats and exceptional wildlife—from elephants and lions to lechwe and wild dogs. Mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions glide silently through reed-lined channels, while motorboat cruises offer a broader perspective of the Delta’s beauty. Guests can also enjoy seasonal catch-and-release fishing, expert-led birding, and guided nature walks.
